lower case love
A tragedy in two acts.
Anna, a newly out transgender woman, struggles with her mental and physical health as she falls in love with Catherine, the head of the radical feminist student activists. Her possibly-more-than-friend-with-benefits, Fatima, tries to support her and guide her towards healthier practices, but can only do so much. Catherine's brand of feminism is virulently transphobic, and it all comes to a head as Anna's secret comes out.

|
CHARACTERSANNA – Transgender 18-year-old woman. Femme. Out as queer. Anna has survived this transphobic society by keeping her head down, and she’s looking for a community now that she’s out in the “real world...” of college. Any race. Freshman.
CATHERINE – Cisgender 18-year-old woman. Femme in expression, masculine in stance and mannerisms. Out as lesbian. Catherine wants to be validated as a feminist activist, but most of her organizing experience has been with other angry young women on the Internet. White. Freshman. FATIMA – Mostly-cisgender 21-year-old mostly-woman. Masculine of center. Not really out as anything in particular. Some people judge her as a player, but honestly she just enjoys her body (and others’) and refuses to be shamed for that. She has a long ponytail. South Asian. Junior. MARY ELIZABETH – Cisgender 21-year-old woman. Femme. Just straight enough to get by well in a traditional sorority. Genuinely means well, even when she doesn’t “get it." A woman of color. Junior. |
