LEGAL-TENDER LOVING CARE
A one-act comedy.
Rosie, lost at a public transit station, reacts with surprise when a cute young man approaches her and wants to "share his secrets" with her. Realizing that she's being propositioned for the first time, she declines. Jayden is dejected until she says that she'll gladly "share secrets" with him... for a price.
The two head to a hotel, and a comedy of errors unfolds; doubly mistaken identities and hidden histories collide as they spar through awkward puns and performance anxiety.

Both of these characters are trans. Please cast responsibly. A note on race in casting this play: it was originally written for a white trans woman and a black trans man. I have never had a cast that reflects those demographics. Every production of this play, I do rewrites to accomodate the ages and races of the actors. At least one of them must be a person of color.
PRODUCTION HISTORY
2019: Production at FUSE Theatre in Redwood City, CA
directed by Kieran Beccia Marquise Walker as Rosie Kaz Valtchev as Jayden Reviewed in Theatrius here: "Keyes portrays sex work with humor and sweetness. Romeo and Rosie are new to the erotic sector of the millennial gig economy, but their blundering advances become believable with Kieran Beccia’s dynamic direction. What the two don’t know is that they are both transgender, each overwhelmed by the anxiety of being “clocked” by the other." |
